    The SCIA attends the 56th Commission Session of the UNCITRAL

    On July 3, 2023, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) opened its 56th Commission session in Vienna, Austria, to review relevant draft texts or guides on the reform of the investor-state dispute settlement, access to credit for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises(MSMEs), etc., and to discuss issues such as climate change and international trade law. The Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), as an observer of the UNCITRAL Working Group II and IV, was invited and sent a delegation headed by Ms. Yin HE, Director of Research Department to participate in the Commission session. Ms. HE spoke during discussions on topics such as early dismissal and preliminary determination, sharing relevant rules and suggestions from China's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
    During the stay in Vienna, the SCIA delegation paid a return visit to Ms. Anna JOUBIN-BRET, Secretary of the UNCITRAL, who visited the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone in May 2018 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (i.e. the 1958 New York Convention) on behalf of the UNCITRAL with the SCIA. In addition, the SCIA delegation also visited the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC), and met with Mr. Christian CAMPBELL, Vice-President of the Center for International Legal Studies (CILS) which is the global organizer of the FDI Moot. In-depth communication was conducted and a number of consensuses were reached on further cooperation between the SCIA and all the parties above.

    Ms. Yin HE spoke at the 15th meeting of the UNCITRAL 56th Commission session.


    The SCIA delegation paid a return visit to Ms. Anna JOUBIN-BRET, Secretary of the UNCITRAL.


    The SCIA delegation visited the VIAC to communicate with Ms. Niamh LEINWATHER, Secretary General of the VIAC.


    The SCIA delegation met with Mr. Christian CAMPBELL, Vice-President of the CILS.
