SCIA visited DIAC

On May 23, 2024, the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) visited the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) with the aimoffurther strengthening institutional cooperation,jointlyserving and promoting China-Middle East cooperation of economic and trade.

Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman, Ahmad Belyouha, Vice Chairman, Jehad Kazim, Executive Director, Thomas R. Snider, Board Member of the Board of Directors of the DIAC, and Robert Stephen, Registrar ofthe DIAC, engaged in in-depth discussions with Li Xiongfeng, Deputy Director of International Cooperation and DevelopmentDepartment of the SCIA.

In August 2023, SCIA and DIAC jointly signed a Memorandum ofUnderstanding, agreeing to deepen cooperation in international commercial dispute resolution between China and Middle Eastern countries, includingthe United Arab Emirates, through joint promotion, capacity building,provision ofhearings facilities, andjointestablishment of the “SCIA-DIAC Hearing Centre.” During the 26th International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) Congress held in early May of this year, Council Members of the SCIA and the Board of Directors of the DIAC exchanged views and reached a consensus on further advancing institutional exchanges and cooperation based on the MOU between SCIA and DIAC in 2023.
