SCIA Arbitration Rules Roadshow Holds in New York

On July 2, 2024, the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) held the Arbitration Rules Roadshow and symposium for arbitrators from the US and Canada in New York.

Mr. Dong Lianhe, Vice President of the SCIA delivered a welcome speech. Ms. Wang Hao, Deputy Director of the Research Department of the SCIA introduced the latest developments an innovations of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Arbitration Center to arbitrator representatives from the US and Canada, and exchanged views on relevant professional issues in the field of international arbitration. During the Rules Roadshow, the SCIA held a ceremony to issue appointment letters to the arbitrators, with Vice President Mr. Dong Lianhe presenting the appointment letters to the representatives of the SCIA’s arbitrators in the US and Canada.

During the visit, the SCIA delegation also visited DLA Piper’s New York office. The delegation had an in-depth exchange with Ms. Kiera S. Gans, a partner at DLA Piper and her team on various professional issues, including evidence disclosure in Chinese international arbitration proceedings, interim measures, the efficiency and cost of dispute resolution, identification of foreign-related cases under Chinese law, the ascertainment of foreign law, the arbitrability of intellectual property disputes and the cross-border enforcement of arbitral awards. SCIA arbitrator representatives from the US and Canada also attended the discussion.
