    SCIA and IAC Deepen International Arbitration Cooperation between China and Kazakhstan

    A delegation from the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) visited the Astana International Financial Centre Court (AIFC Court) and the Astana International Arbitration Centre (IAC) in Kazakhstan on September 9, 2024. 

    During the visit, the SCIA delegation had in-depth discussions with leading members of the AIFC Court and the IAC, including CEO Christopher Campbell-Holt, COO Gulnaz Tukhtamova and General Manager Almat Igenbayev, regarding the latest developments in Sino-Kazakh international arbitration.

    Campbell-Holt gave a rundown on the background, organizational structure, personnel, hearing room facilities and operational methods of the AIFC Court and the IAC. 

    An Xin, vice president of SCIA and director of the SCIA Kashi Center, presented the development history and innovative achievements of international arbitration in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

    An and Campbell-Holt then both signed a Memorandum of Understanding  on behalf of their institutes to deepen collaboration in resolving international commercial disputes, promoting international arbitration, providing mutual hearing room assistance services, conducting joint training for international commercial legal professionals, and supporting economic and trade exchanges among countries taking part in the Belt and Road Initiative.



    SCIA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IAC


    Geng Baojian, president of the Xinjiang Lawyers Association, led a delegation to participate in the discussions and witness the signing ceremony.


    The SCIA delegation visited the AIFC Court and the IAC


    Later on, the SCIA delegation also visited the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, and the Astana subsidiary of ZTE Corporation to deepen the understanding of the cross-border investment and trade dispute resolution situations of Chinese-funded enterprises in Kazakhstan.
