    SCIA and IPBA Hold 2024 IPBA Arbitration Day Event in Shenzhen

    The Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) hosted the 2024 IPBA Arbitration Day event at the SCIA Tower in Shenzhen, on Oct 25 2024.

    The event centered around the theme "Arbitration in the Face of Tech Innovation and a Changing Landscape", showcasing speeches and discussions by professionals from 12 countries and regions, such as Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.

    More than 150 international arbitration experts, senior arbitrators, distinguished lawyers from leading international law firms, and esteemed scholars from prestigious universities from over 30 countries, including China, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Australia, the UAE, and India, graced the event with their presence.




    Fei Ning, Former Chairman of the IPBA Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Committee, SCIA Arbitrator, and Managing Partner of the Hui Zhong Law Firm delivered welcome address.


    Lars Markert, Co-Chair of the IPBA Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Committee, delivered welcome address.


    Dr. Liu Xiaochun, President of the SCIA and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South China International Arbitration Center (HK) (SCIAHK), delivered a speech on "Reform and Opening-Up and China’s Arbitration Legislation", while Dr. Jiang Lili, Secretary-General of the Beijing Arbitration Commission, delivered a speech on the "Latest Developments and Innovative Practices of Arbitration Law in China".

    During the panel discussion, experts covered five key topics including "Arbitration in the Era of Rapid Innovation", "Common Issues in Technology Arbitration", the "Application of Intellectual Property in Technology Arbitration", "Arbitration Matters after Investment, Co-Investment, and Mergers & Acquisitions", and the "Innovative Development of Investment Arbitration in the Asia-Pacific region". Professionals from various countries shared their insights and engaged in detailed discussions. Yi Ran, Deputy Legal Counsel of the International Cooperation and Development Department of the SCIA, hosted the event.

    Lars and Huen Wong, who is a Council Member of the SCIA, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SCIAHK, and Former President of the IPBA, delivered the closing remarks.


    Experts visited the SCIA Tower and walked into the hearing rooms and offices to experience the development of international arbitration in Shenzhen.



    The IPBA also hosted a welcome reception on Oct 24 2024 at the SCIA Tower, where experts gathered to discuss cooperation potential in the future.
